Hollywood Remains to Be Seen

Although I made every effort to make sure all the information in the book was complete, accurate and up-to-date, once in a while something pops up that requires an update or correction. And so, before someone else points them out, I'll try to include those updates here:

Nov. 30, 2001 -- I was out at Westwood this afternoon and saw a workman putting the finishing touches on a new grave marker right next to the main entrance of the chapel. There are several markers next to a low wall in this newly remodeled area of the grounds. It's very similar to the markers in the Walter Matthau area. Which is appropriate, since the name on this new marker was Jack Lemmon.

Actually, what was printed on the marker was "Jack Lemmon in ..." I can only imagine what's going to be on the rest of the marker. I'll post a photo here as soon as I can.

(My first reaction was "Jack Lemmon in ... 'Mr. Roberts'" or "Jack Lemmon in ... 'Days of Wine and Roses.'" After thinking about it, I came up with "Jack Lemmon in ... the ground." But now, since the word "in" was centered on the line below his name, it'll probably be "Jack Lemmon - Rest in Peace.")

So, maybe Jack was only resting temporarily in Peter Lawford's old crypt.

Nov. 1, 2001 -- Freddie Prinze's real name was Frederick Karl Prutzel, not Freddie James Prinze. That's the real name of his son, actor Freddie Prinze Jr.
